Free Swiss CV template in Word & PDF

Download a professionally structured CV template built for the Swiss job market. Free, no signup, no watermark. Available as an editable Word file (.docx) and as PDF examples.

Swiss CVs differ from British, American and even German ones: recruiters expect a photo, your work-permit status, CEFR language levels (B2, C1โ€ฆ) and a clean, factual layout of maximum two pages. This template has all of it in the right place.

What makes a Swiss CV different?

    • Photo: customary in Switzerland (professional headshot, top corner), unlike the UK or US.
    • Work permit: if you are not Swiss, recruiters look for your permit status (B, C, G, L) near your contact details.
    • Languages with CEFR levels: "German, level B2" beats "good German". Language skills matter enormously in a multilingual country.
    • Two pages maximum, reverse-chronological, no signature block (that belongs in the motivation letter).
    • Personal details: date of birth and nationality are commonly included. Unusual elsewhere, expected here.

    How to use it

    1. 1Download the .docx file and open it in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.
    2. 2Replace every placeholder with your own details. Keep achievements concrete ("increased X by 40%"), not job descriptions.
    3. 3Add your photo, permit status and CEFR language levels.
    4. 4Keep it to two pages, export as PDF, and name the file properly (e.g. "CV_FirstName_LastName.pdf").

    Frequently asked questions

    Is the template really free?

Yes. The Word template and PDF examples are free to download and use, with no signup and no watermark. Our paid product is the AI builder that writes and formats the CV for you.

Do I need a photo on a Swiss CV?

It is customary and most recruiters expect one, but it is not legally required. If you include one, use a professional, friendly headshot, not a vacation photo.

Should my CV be in German, French or English?

Match the language of the job advertisement. For international companies English often works; for Swiss SMEs and public administration, use the local language of the region.

How long should a Swiss CV be?

Two pages is the standard for professionals. One page is fine for students and early careers. Never more than two.

What is the difference between this template and the CV builder?

The template is a blank structure you fill in manually. The builder writes bullet points with AI, applies 21 Swiss layouts, checks ATS compatibility and exports a perfect PDF, from CHF 5.
